Chairman of TİM: “Turkey has risen to a group of innovative countries in the middle level in the EU.”

 

Turkey Innovation Week will be held in Istanbul Congress Center on 8-10 December.

The Turkey Innovation Week, organized by the Turkish Ministry of Economy for five years in order to support the innovative efforts of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM) on sustainable development, will be held at the Istanbul Congress Center on 8-10 December.

This year, 185 lecturers from 10 countries will participate in the conferences, panels, exhibitions and workshops in the fields of artificial intelligence, wearable technology, digital game, sports, women entrepreneurs, social innovation, and bionic technology.

Chairman of TİM Mehmet Büyükekşi said “The steps we have taken to achieve success in innovation are reaching its goal. Turkey ranks in 42nd row in the Global Innovation Index, rising 16 places this year. In the EU Innovation Union index, it rose to a group of innovative countries in the middle level”.

As spokesmen, Samsung Deputy Chairman Pranav Mistry, Manager Hugh Berr from MIT Media Lab Biyomechatronic Group allowing prosthesis to move naturally, Franky Zapata a revolutionary jet ski world champion who drives the flyboard model to the market and Dirk Ahlborn, the creator of Hyperloop, a new generation of fast-moving means, to attend the activity to be organized with the sponsorship of Sabancı Holding, Çalık Holding, Arçelik, Turkcell, TEB and THY.

Under the coordination of the Ministry of Economy, countdown for the 5th Turkey Innovation Week which has been organized for five years by Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM) in order to support innovative work towards sustainable development has started. Event in which many subjects will be covered from economy to science, sports to cinema and to meet professionals, industrialists, academics and students from 10 different countries to be held between 8-10 December in İstanbul Congress Center.

In this year's conferences of the event to be organized with the sponsorship of Sabancı Holding, Çalık Holding, Arçelik, Turkcell, TEB and THY together with TİM, Deputy Chairman of Samsung Pranav Mistry, Hugh Herr Manager of MIT Media Lab Miyomechatronic Group famous with his studies allowing prosthesis to move naturally with theme “6th Sense in Technology” and Franky Zapata a revolutionary jet ski world champion who drives the flyboard model to the market with theme “a Zapata Race Story” to share the experiences. Dirk Ahlborn, the creator of Hyperloop, a high-level means of transportation, will also take part in the event and inspire participants.

In this year in the event there would be conferences, panels, exhibitions and workshops in the titles of Economic Development, Growth Focused Innovation, Smart Cities, Artificial Intelligence, Biomechanics, Wearable Technology, Digital Gaming, Sports, Women Entrepreneurs, Social Innovation and Cinema. In order to encourage innovation in the event, the 3rd InovaLIG Award Ceremony will be held this year.

Turkey has risen to intermediate level innovative group of countries in the EU.

Chairman of TİM, Mehmet Büyükekşi, Turkey Innovation Week Committee Chairman Tahsin Öztiryaki, Turkey Innovation Week Committee  Member Süleyman Kocasert, Arçelik R&D Director Cem Kural, Çalık Holding Corporate Communication Director Özlem Yalçın, Kordsa Global' s CEO Cenk Alper, TEB Brand and Communication Director Zeynep Demirkol, Turkcell Digital Services and Solutions Group President Ayşem Ertopuz and Secretary General of TİM Halil Bader Arslan attended to press conference with the theme of promoting the event.

Chairman of TIM Mehmet Büyükekşi, by attracting attention to the fact that Turkey is need of innovative ideas, attention to the need for individuals and institutions in 2023 to reach the goal of $ 500 billion export, said “This need is encouraging TİM to organize Turkey's biggest innovation event for five years. In five years, approximately 400,000 people followed the weeks of innovation. While we're in 58th row in the Global Innovation Index in 2015, we moved up 16 rows and reached to 42nd place this year. According to the European Union Innovation Association's 2016 Index, we have risen to a group of countries that are innovative in the middle level from countries not at the level of innovation. All these achievements show us that the steps we have taken to ensure success in innovation are reaching a certain goal.”

Successful students from universities and high schools will participate.

Turkey Innovation Week Committee Chairman Tahsin Öztiryaki reported that “Our activity, which is the result of one year of work, continues on its way by getting younger every year. This year we expect participation from all universities. In addition to the two most successful students at every university, successful students from various high schools will be present.” TİM Secretary General Halil Bader Arslan, Drawing attention to the fact that the number of speakers being 47 in year 2002 have risen to 131 in last year pointed out that “This year we will have 185 speakers from 10 different countries. Events will be organized in areas such as artificial intelligence, wearable technology, digital gaming, sports, women entrepreneurs, social innovation, bionic technology.”

Arçelik A.Ş. R&D Director Cem Kural said “We are proud to be the strategic partner of this initiative that brings together the leading actors of the innovation ecosystem and supports the development of our country. We will continue to support the development of our investments and the ecosystem, with the awareness that innovation in product, service and production systems will create value for our country.”
