Collaboration with Thailand

First Section of Thailand & Vietnam Trade Delegation, organized by our Assembly with the coordination of the Ministry of Economy, was held on May 3th, in Bangkok. First, the program started with Turkey - Thailand Business Forum, with around 100 participants from both side.

Mr. Çıkrıkçıoğlu, Deputy Chairman of TIM and Head of The Delegation, and Ahmet Adem İkay, First Counsellor of Embassy of The Republic of Turkey in Bangkok, made the opening speeches on behalf of Turkey.

On the other hand, on behalf of Thailand, Mr. Sombat Thiratrakoolchai, Chairman of Turkey – Thailand Business Council, Mr. Wimonkan Kosumas, Mr. Chayoot Sripian and Mr. Natpong Boonjing took their places at the stage in order to make speeches.

In their speeches, the Thai Authorities emphasized that the relations between Turkey and Thailand needed to be further developed while they were making short presentations introducing their institutions. Pointing out that the trade delegation was organized just in place and just in time, they stated that they would visit our country with 30 Thai Companies on May 15-18.

On the other part, Mustafa Çıkrıkçıoğlu stated that the two countries were specialized in different product groups and we would increase our trade by strengthening our interrelations. Çıkrıkçıoğlu added that Turkey, which exports in Electrical Machinery and Equipment, Machinery and Mechanical Appliances sectors to more than 200 countries, which make it highly successful but we could not export to Thailand as much as we could in these sectors, and that reason we had to increase our export to Thailand.

Following the Business Forum, a memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed between our Assembly and the Thai Chamber of Commerce in the signing ceremony. The event continued with B2B meetings section, where totally 200 B2B meetings have been held.
