The Chairman of the Turkish Exporters Assembly, Mehmet BUYUKEKSİ, commented on the Cabinet Decree entitled “Special Passport (Green) for Exporters” which went into effect as of this morning. The Chairman told the followings;
“We, as Turkish Exporters Assembly, regularly discuss issues raised by our exporters with the President, Prime Minister, Minister of Economy, other Cabinet members, and the members of the Turkish Grand National Assembly. Majority of these issues are reviewed and duly dealt with. Last year, we submitted a twenty-two-point proposal to our government's appraisal, among which we put a premium on granting of a special (green) passport to our exporters. The changes in line with our suggestions in the Passport Law no. 5682 came into force as of this morning.
Pursuant to this Code, distribution of 14000 special passports to 10000 companies are being planned. Istanbul, with 6800 special passports, is the leading city in terms of green passports being granted to the exporters. Izmir, Bursa, Gaziantep, Ankara, and Kocaeli follow respectively. We hope this incentive to provide great motivation to our exporters.
Following the implementation of the related clauses, our exporters will be able to reach many destinations visa-free, including EU member states whose share in Turkey's export constitutes nearly half our total export. Our exporters, who export goods and services to more than 200 countries in six continents will surely be more confident and zealous with the backing of our government. We, on behalf of the Turkish Exporters Assembly and the Ministry of Economy, would like to express our gratitude to the President, Cabinet Members, and the Turkish Grand National Assembly.“
