Exports Increased by 8.9 Percent in September

Export figures were announced by TIM Chairman Mehmet Büyükekşi at the production facility of AGT Company in Antalya, which is a leading company in wood sector.

According to the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM) figures, exports in September was 11 billion 337 million dollars with an increase of 8.9 percent compared to the same month of the previous year. Last 12 months' exports also increased by 9 percent to 153 billion 24 million dollars.

TIM Chairman Buyukeksi responded to Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım, who asked all industrialist to be an exporter in order to reach 100 thousand exporters, saying “we will export more to contribute to growth and employment.”

Exports to greatest five markets, including Germany and the USA, have increased.

TİM Chairman Mehmet Büyükekşi said: "We have been declaring increases in exports since last November and five of them are double-digits. We are sure that we will reach $156.5 billion export target of this year announced with Medium Term Program, and hope to exceed it"

Büyükekşi: "In September, the parity effect in exports was $ 234 million in positive direction. This is particularly due to increase in Euro / Dollar parity. But for the first 9 months, parity affected exports negatively by $1.8 billion, mainly due to the depreciation of Lira against US Dollars”

Büyükekşi also commented on the 2018-2020 Medium Term Program announced by Deputy Prime Minister Mehmet Şimşek last week: "2017 export target was revised from $ 153.3 billion to $ 156.5 billion. We are proud of the upward revision of Medium Term Program which reflects our success in exports.

TİM Chairmen also talked about the referendum in Northern Iraq and said: “We hope that the Northern Iraq Regional Government will soon correct this mistake. And Iraq will proceed to be a country where Kurds, Arabs and Turkmens are living in peace. Our exports to Northern Iraq constitutes 25% of our whole exports to Iraq”
