GREAT INTEREST TO EXPORT AGENTS IN CHILE

Turkey-Chile Business Forum and bilateral business negotiations, which is under the coordination of the Ministry of Economy and TIM organization, held in capital of Chile, Santiago, on March 15, 2018. Mehmet Bülent AYMEN, who is Audit Board Member of the Assembly and the Member of Logistic Sector, was the Head of Delegation.

27 Turkish business people from 21 companies, operating in food, textile and raw materials, apperal, fruit and vegetable products, medical, cement, machinery, mining, petrochemistry, olive and olive oil, chemical materials, aluminium, electric-electronic, cleaning materials, kitchenware, iron-steel, and electronic equipment sectors, participated in Turkey-Brazil Business Forum.

Turkey-Chile Business Forum, which is organized by big support of Our Commercial Counsellor in Santigao, Ms. Elçin EDIS, began with the opening speech of Pedro REUS, International Director at Federation of Industrialists' of Chile (SOFOFA)

REUS: TURKEY AND CHILE NEEDS TO EXPAND THE SCOPE OF FTA

                Reus, began his speech by thanking our Embassy and our Assembly in Santiago, and stated that Turkey and Chile are pace setter countries which achieve great economic success with the successful foreign trade policy.

                He emphasized that following the offical visit of our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in February 2016, the relationships between two countries gained momentum and there is plenty of agreements in many areas especially in trade. “In order to reach the real potential of bilateral trade, it is important that the scope of the agreement is expanded and modernized according to the conditions of the period. FTA does not cover many important sectors of Chile. I believe that the trade between the two countries will multiply exponentially as the agreement is revised” he said.

                Afterwards, the promotional film about the economic and foreign trade data of Turkey and TIM, reflected on the cinevision screen, also received great applause and appreciation from the participants.

                After the video presentation, Bülent AYMEN went up to the postrum. In his speech with detailed information about the trade between the two countries and promote our Assembly, he also emphasized that there is strong bonds of friendship between Turkey and Chile.

 

 

                AYMEN:  WE CAN ALSO RUN JOINT PROJECTS IN THIRD COUNTRIES WITH CHILE, THE FIRST COUNTRY WE HAVE SIGNED WITH FTA IN LATIN AMERİCA.

                AYMEN highlighted that the biggest goal of the two countries is to reach a much higher level than $ 650 million trading volume in 2012 and also stated that the amount of $ 520 million captured in 2017 is shared between the two countries.

                While AYMEN indicates that about 60% of our exports to Chile are noted in the iron and steel, automotive and machinery sectors, “Turkey and Chile in terms of geographical location and regional relations as well as their market, holds the potential of opening up to other markets. This potential could be a great opportunity for third countries to implement joint projects” he said.

                Afterwards, Our Ambassador to Santiago H.E. Gülin DİNÇ, the importance of Turkey-Chile FTA to be revised to achieve the true potential of bilateral trade, she emphasized as well.

After the business forum which ended with the gift ceremony and group photo, B2B meetings session started with the attendance of 27 business people from 21 Turkish companies and 80 Chilean companies. During the section, around 250 business meetings were held.

                During B2B meetings, Head of Delegation Bülent AYMEN held a courtesy visit to the SOFOFA and held a meeting with senior executive Manuel Jose PRIETO.

                “Establishment of a common commercial commission to promote trade cooperation between the two countries, THY's direct flight to Santiago, draft work on signing MOU between Our Assembly and SOFOFA within the shortest time” were the main agenda of the meeting in where Our Commercial Counsellor, Ms. Elçin EDİS, participated as well.
