Turkey-Qatar Business Forum and bilateral business negotiations, which is under the coordination of the Ministry of Economy and TIM organization, held in Qatar's capital city Doha, on February 19-22, 2018. Ahmet GÜLEÇ, who is Board Member of the Assembly and the Member of Sectors Council, was the Head of Delegation.

45 Turkish business people from 37 companies, operating in food, fruit and vegetable products, medical, tobacco, aluminum, hazelnut, chemical materials, bakery products, electrical, greenhouses, cleaning materials, agricultural products, furniture, kitchenware, chocolate and sugar products, iron-steel, and electronic equipment sectors, participated in Qatar Trade Delegation.

The forum where more than 150 representatives of Qatari companies participated in, started at 9.00 a.m. with the opening speech of Vice President Qatar Chamber Mr. Muhammed Bin Ahmed Bin Towar Al-Kuwari.

Mr. Muhammed stated that Turkey-Qatar relations have made great progress in recent years and the private sector of the two countries established very important trade links. He added that 205 Turkish companies were operating in Qatar and 19 of these companies were completely Turkish capital. “Under the World Cup preparations to be held in Qatar in 2022, Turkish companies invested a total of $ 12.5 billion to Qatar and we are 37 companies operating in different sectors of guests from Turkey. Accordingly, Qatar chamber is always ready to give  full support to Turkish exporters” he said.

Afterwards, the promotional film about the economic and foreign trade data of Turkey and TIM, reflected on the cinevision screen, also received great applause and appreciation from the participants.

Following the speech of Mr. Muhammed, Mr. Ahmet GULEC, Board Member of TIM, emphasized that, the relationship between the two countries has a deep rooted past and that our relations are increasing strongly by both culturally and economically. GULEC said that TIM, Turkey's only exporter association, has been operating for 25 years and has a total of more than 67.000 members operating in almost every sector.  In many sectors, especially in food, he expressed that two countries have mutual trade potential. Finally, he stressed that the trade relations of the two countries will be affected positively with this organization.

Mr. Aytac YENAL, as the represantative of Minister of Economy, The Deputy Director-General of Export, stated that Turkey and Qatar have very important historical and economic ties and that with the commercial relationship, the two countries' relations have strong bases. Mr. YENAL said that Turkey is the world's 17th largest economy with a GDP of 860 billion US Dollars and export level exceeding 157 billion US Dollars. He also emphasized that Qatar is similarly one of the major economies in the Gulf Region and it has the highest GDP per capita in whole Middle East and North Africa.

He stated that although positive trend of bilateral trade between Turkey and Qatar, Turkey has received only 1.7% share in Qatar's import.  He lastly underlined he believed that this trade mission organization would contribute to achieving the real potential of trade between the countries.

Finally, H.E. Fikret ÖZER, Turkish Ambassasor to Doha, in addition to giving information about the foreign trade data between the two countries, emphasized that Turkey's export record has performed by members of TIM.

After the business forum, B2B meetings session started with the attendance of 45 business people from 37 Turkish companies and 191 Qatari companies. During the section, around 600 business meetings were held.

Ahmet GÜLEÇ, Head of Delegation, gave interviews to QTV, one of Qatar's biggest TV channels, and four major press / broadcast organizations including Alarabyajaded, one of the major newspapers of the country, during the business forum and bilateral business meetings.
