Turkish Exporters' Assembly (TİM) has announced March 2017 export figures. According to TİM data, Turkey's exports increased by 19% in March, reaching 13.6 billion USD.
Top performing industries in March were Automotive, Sea Vessels and Jewelry with 32.5%, 87.3% and 75.4% increases respectively. In the first three month, automotive exports increased by almost 1.5 billion dollars, while steel increased by 874 million dollars and chemicals by 788 million dollars.
In March, exports to the Far East increased greatly, by 91%. Exports to EU-28 also continued its steady growth with a 20% increase with the largest increases in Malta and Portugal with 95.9% and 92.1% respectively. In addition to these countries, with the improving relations with Russia, exports to Russia increased by 45.3% in March and by 40.3% in the first three months.
Chairman of TİM, Mehmet Büyükekşi stated that this was the largest increase since November 2012. Büyükekşi also said “In the first 3 months of the year our exports increased by 6.7%. With the recovering global economy and the support of our government, Turkey's exports started to rise again in 2017.”Last updated on Saturday, April 1, 2017
