September 2016 Export Figures Revealed

Turkish Exporters' Assembly (TİM), revealed September 2016 export figures with a press release. According to TİM figures, total exports in September recorded 10 billion 452 million USD dollars with 0.8% decrease compared to last year's September.


Commenting on the data, Mr. Büyükekşi said “even the exports seems to decrease, we evaluate this figure as a success due to 1-week religious holiday this month. If the Eid al Adha (Sacrifice Feast) was to start on Thursday instead of Monday, around 9% increase in exports would be observed”


Looking at the 9-month data, Turkey's exports were recorded as 95.7 billion U.S. dollars with a drop by 2.7 percent.


On the other hand, quantity based exports in the first 9 months increased by 5 percent. For September only, quantitative increase is as high as 9 % compared to 2015 September.


Top performing industry was automotive with 1.9 billion U.S. dollars in exports. Automotive was followed by garments and apparels, with an export figure of 1.3 billion U.S. dollars.


In September, Turkey increased her exports to 140 countries. Some significant increases were to Iran with 36.8%, China with 13.1% and Israel with 10.4%.


In addition to this, 43 Turkish cities increased their exports while 36 had export drops.
