The World Drove Turkish Vehicles, Bought Turkish Flowers to Beloved Ones

Setting a new export record by achieving double-digit increase in February, Turkey also scored a historic victory on sectorial-base. According to Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM) data February export numbers has set many records. For example, automotive sector which recently has been shouldering Turkish exports, with its export number of $2,8 billion has achieved to be the highest monthly export number of all times. Same situation can be seen for Ornamental Plants and Products sector. This sector has achieved $15 million export record in February. Therefore, the world preferred Turkish flowers for the Valentine's Day.

On the other hand, there are six more sectors that set an export record in February 2018.

  • Machinery Exporters $548 million
  • Furniture, Paper and Forestry Products $398 million
  • Defence and Aviation Industry $150 million
  • Leather and Leather Products $145 million
  • Fruits and Vegatables Products $118 million and
  • Olive and Olive Oil Products $58 million

Historic Victory from Kırşehir

In February 2018, very important successes have been achieved on city-base. With its $22 million exports, Kırşehir has reached its peak of monthly exports. Besides, 29 other cities including Turkey's important industrial and export centers like İstanbul, Bursa, Kocaeli, İzmir, Gaziantep and so on has succeeded their highest February export numbers in 2018.

There are also new peaks in country-based exports. Exports to Italy, Belgium, Slovenia, Portugal and Australia has reached their highest level. Moreover, there were export records in 51 country and region. These record list includes world's giants Germany, USA, United Kingdom, Spain and Holland and other countries from different regions of the world like Qatar from Middle East, Chile from Latin America, Ivory Coast from Africa and so on.

Our Share of World Trade Will Increase

President of TİM Mehmet Büyükekşi, reminded that Turkey's export share of world trade in 2017 has been 0,9 percent, which is its highest level until today. Büyükekşi said: “with double-digit increase in exports of 2018, we will increase this share and empower our country's position in world trade. While succeeding these achievements as a country, our sectors, increasing their capacities with new investments, and our cities increasing their production by those investments will continue to set new monthly records. Thus, with more powerful and qualified production, we will beat our own export records to different countries.”
