TIM announced the top 1000 successful exporters of 2015.
Ford Otomotiv is the champion in exports.
Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM) announced the exports champion of 2015. Ford Otomotiv became the champion of the last year with exports 3 billion 847 million TL. This firm was followed by the last year's champion TÜPRAŞ and OYAK Renault.
TIM Chairman Mehmet Büyükekşi emphasized that the top 1000 companies made 57.5 percent of the total exports last year and the remaining 62 thousand companies 42.5 percent.
Büyükekşi mentioned the profitability ratio of the exporters and said “Profitability in the top 500 companies was 4.94 percent in 2014 and it went up to 5.38 percent in 2015; we find this rise favorable but insufficient. If it were not for the effect of parity last year, we would have been talking about profitability around 7-8 percent in the top 500 companies. Unfortunately, the exporter sacrificed his profit”.
Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM) announced the top 1000 successful exporters of 2015. According to this, Ford Otomotiv became the champion of the last year with exports 3 billion 847 million TL. TÜPRAŞ was placed second with 2 billion 912 million dollars of exports last year and OYAK Renault became third with 2 billion 678 million dollars. TIM Chairman Mehmet Büyükekşi made an evaluation of the top 1000 companies of 2015 in exports and said “Of Turkey's total exports of 143.9 billion dollars in 2015, 48.7 percent was made by the top 500 companies. The second 500 companies made 8.8 percent and the remaining 62 thousand companies made 42.5 percent of the total. Here, we see that the export is being spread to the base”.
The companies that shared the top three ranks last year in the general exports of Turkey were followed by Kibar Foreign Trade 2 billion 433 million, Vestel Trade 2 billion 155 million, TOFAŞ 2 billion 57 million, Arçelik 1 billion 783 million, Toyota Otomotiv 1 billion 184 million, Bosch Sanayi 1 billion 59 million and TGS Foreign Trade 1 billion 4 million dollars of exports.
100 thousand exporters target will be achieved
TIM Chairman Büyükekşi pointed out that in 2014 there were 61 thousand exporter firms in Turkey, in 2015 this figure went up to 63 thousand and said “ If it goes on with this rate, I believe we will achieve the target of 100 thousand exporters in 2023”.
At the level of firms, Büyükekşi reminded that 10 companies made exports over one billion dollars. He said “We take the 1-billion-dollar threshold seriously in the export of our firms. Our 2023 target is to have 50 firms over 1 billion dollars exports line. On the other hand, there are 14 firms that make exports between 500 million and 1 billion. There are 121 firms between 100 million dollars and 500 million dollars, 174 firms between 50 million dollars and 100 million dollars, 406 firms between 25 million dollars and 50 million dollars and 275 firms between 19 million dollars, which our limit for the top 1000, and 25 million dollars.
Export is spreading in Anatolia
Büyükekşi pointed out that export continues to spread to the base and continued with the following:
“In the top 1000 firms, 439 firms make exports from Istanbul. While the number of firms in Istanbul keeps falling in the last 9 years, this province is followed by Izmir with 77 firms, Kocaeli with 66 firms, Gaziantep with 62 firms and Bursa with 59 firms. We consider the increasing of the weight of different provinces in the exports as a healthy development for the exports and economy of Turkey. Diversification of exports on regional and sectoral level and its spreading to Anatolia is a development that we favor”.
“Profitability increased, but not sufficient”
Büyükekşi mentioned that he finds the rise of profitability ratio of exporter firms from 4.94 percent to 5.38 percent favorable but insufficient. Büyükekşi said “The profitability of 97 percent in the second 500 is more satisfying. In 2015, especially the firms exporting to Euro zone had difficulties in 2015 in the parity. The impact of exchange rate rise is obvious here. If it were not for the effect of parity last year, we would have been talking about profitability around 7-8 percent in the top 500 companies. Unfortunately, the exporter sacrificed his profit. We desire to pull this up”.
