Turkey is Growing with Exports

Chairman of Turkish Exporters' Assembly, Mehmet Büyükekşi, commented on 2017 Q2 GDP data;

“Turkish economy, retaining its momentum, grew by 5.1% in the second quarter and the first quarter data was revised from 5% to 5.2%. With net exports' positive contribution in 2 quarters in a row, our decision to declare 2017 “Breakthrough Year” was justified once again. Similar to Q1, net exports contributed 1.7 points to GDP growth, making exports the locomotive of Turkish economy.

With this data, Turkey has become number 4 in terms of growth rate among European countries. In the second quarter, Turkey's growth was higher than Germany, France, Italy and UK, as well as Euro Zone and EU averages, cementing its place among the successful economies of Europe.

We believe that by producing and exporting more and more we will continue in this track, and reach higher numbers in the third quarter. Most economic indicators and the preliminary data, especially the industrial production index, support this expectation. In addition to these, exports will also continue to contribute positively.

As Turkish Exporters' Assembly, representing 67 thousand exporters who provides jobs for 3.1 million people, we would like to express our gratitude to the exporters who are the main actors behind the exports contribution to the growth with their hard work. Also, we would like to thank our Minister of Economy and the Government for their endless support.”
