In the “International IMP³rove Awards” named as world's champions league in Turkey Innovation Week, Tarkett from France became the champion in the category of Large Companies, and Cosberg company from Italy received the title of championship in the category of SME. The awards were given in 5 categories in InovaLIG, the stage of the competition held in Turkey.
Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the President of the Republic of Turkey, also participated in the activities; he underlined that the level should be raised in order that Turkey could reach its objectives, and he addressed to the young generation in this issue.
Mustafa Elitaş, the Minister of Economy, participating in the activities reminded Mevlana's following remark: “it's the effort what makes people fly”, and he stated: “If we don't learn anything from each other, if we do not cooperate, we cannot make innovation”.
Mehmet Büyükekşi, the Chairman of the Turkish Exporters' Assembly (TIM), emphasized that the activities having continued for 3 days broke a new record with the participation of 50 000 people.
Turkey Innovation Week was successfully concluded in Istanbul, and a new record was broken with the participation of 50 000 people. During the activities, InovaLIG champions also received their awards and 'International IMP³rove Awards' were given to their owners. The campaign starting for innovation was terminated at its highest point.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan participating in the final day activities of Turkey Innovation Week reminded their objectives for 2023 and underlined the importance of the politics and implementations which helped Turkey to reach this position, today. On the other hand, Erdoğan emphasized that the objectives cannot be accomplished with these policies, and he stated: “We should proceed on our way by raising the level and developing new policies for our goals. Of course, we should continue to produce. We should produce high technologies with high brand value. And in order to achieve this goal, we should pay great attention to education and training”.
Erdoğan pointed out that Turkey should take more precise and confident steps in terms of R&D, and he emphasized the importance of the innovation. He also underlined that the expenses made for R&D by using national income should be raised to the rate of 3%. Moreover, Erdoğan touched upon the significance of raising the rate of high technology products to 10% in export and the rate of medium high technology to 50%, and he remarked: “It is quite important for us to reach these percentages for sustainability. We cannot reach the objective of 500 billion dollars in another way. For this reason, we should develop the culture of innovation both in individual and institutional aspects.
If we educate the young generation, then we can take all steps in innovation
Mustafa Elitaş, the Minister of Economy, also said that the potential of the young generation should be developed for the Turkey's improvement in the field of innovation. Elitaş emphasized that Turkey did not have enough resources such as oil, natural gas and gold mine, but that it had a young, productive and hardworking population. He stated: “approximately 12 million of the total population in Turkey consist of the young people between the ages of 15 and 24. We saw the sparkle in the eyes of the students, their intelligences and their excitements in Turkey Innovation Week. If we take this potential in the young further, we can take all steps in the innovation and we can reach all destinations. Transformation of the inventions of young people into economic profit is the duty of the state and the business world. Mevlana said: “it's the effort what makes people fly”. If we don't learn anything from each other, if we do not cooperate, we cannot make innovation”.
The young will be the wings for Turkey to fly up
Mehmet Büyükekşi, the Chairman of TIM, stated that 12 000 people visited first Turkey Innovation Week organized four years ago, and that this number would reach 50 000 this year.
He drew attention to the fact that Anatolian territories witnessed numerous innovations throughout the history, and that it raised many scientists such as Aristoteles, Hazerfen Ahmet Çelebi and Piri Reis.
Büyükekşi reminded that the states located in this area became the strongest societies in the world as long as they gave importance to the innovations, and he stated: “certain things which were seen impossible in the history became possible in this area. We do have enough brainpower, capital, consensus on the need for development and human sources to gather ourselves up and to make improvements. We will move forward the era of great innovative thinking leaded by our President and we will help Turkey to become a strong country in global scale. As the grandchildren of Hazarfen Ahmet Çelebi, young people of Turkey will become the wings for Turkey to fly up in the future. Our objective for 2023 is to raise the share of R&D to 3%. Turkey will become the shining star of its region and the world with its strong and dynamic economy, its value-added exportation, and its world-renowned brands”.
World Innovation champions are selected in the Innovation Week
President Erdoğan, Minister of Economy Elitaş and Chairman of TIM Büyükekşi gave the “International IMP³rove Awards” which were organized as a part of the activities performed in Turkey Innovation Week and by which the world innovation champions were selected. “International IMP³rove Awards” which were given this year in İstanbul for the first time consisted of two categories, namely the Category of Large Companies and the Category of SME. Grupo Fleury, Labris, Arçelik, Action, Fidko, Solwa, Tarkett, PICC, Cosberg, Rosenbauer which were among the companies getting to the finals in two categories competed with each other. Tarkett from France became the champion of the category of Large Companies while Cosberg from Italy became the champion of the category of SME. Ali Koç, Member of the Board of Directors of Koç Holding received the achievement award from Büyükekşi on behalf of Arçelik representing Turkey in the finalist category of large companies.
In InovaLIG Award Ceremony which was organized by TIM for the second time this year, the champions were awarded in 5 different categories. Kordsa Global became champion in Innovation Strategy Category, IETT in Innovation Organization and Culture Category, Insurance Information and Monitoring Center in Innovation Cycle Category, MIR Ar-Ge in Innovation Resources Category, and Teklas in Innovation Outcomes Category.
