TİM CHAIRMAN GÜLLE: ESKİŞEHİR IS A BRAND IN 'DEFENSE AND AVIATION' SECTORS
The "SME Export Mobilization Training Program" organized by the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM) to encourage small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to export was physically carried out in Eskişehir. Eskişehir Governor Erol Ayyıldız and TİM Chairman İsmail Gülle opened the program, which received great attention. In the program, awards were presented to the companies that signed the most and highest value-added export in Eskişehir last year. The Turkish exporter, which is the field workers of Türkiye's economy and trade diplomacy, has succeeded in exporting from Eskişehir to 147 countries and regions this year.
Speaking at the opening of the program, TİM Chairman İsmail Gülle noted Eskişehir's successful performance in export and said, "Investments are increasing day by day in our country. In some sectors, order density has increased 2-3 times above the current capacity. With our performance this year, we are taking firm steps forward to break the historical record of the Republic in Eskişehir. In the first 10 months of 2021, our city's export increased by 25 percent to $924 million compared to the same period of the previous year. Eskişehir became a brand city, especially in the Defense and Aviation sector. Our sector exported $246 million in Eskişehir in the first 10 months of the year with an increase of 12 percent. Eskişehir is also our 11th most exporting city with an average export distance of 4,351 kilometers."
Working for the growth of the Turkish economy, Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM), the only umbrella organization of more than 100 thousand exporters with 61 exporter associations and 27 sectors, continues its "SME Export Mobilization Training Programs". The last of the training in which small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) were encouraged to export was carried out physically in Eskişehir. Participants were informed about many topics in the program from how to become an exporter, how to benefit from export-related supports and financing of export.
Award to the companies that export the most from Eskişehir
The program, which was organized at Eskişehir Anadolu University and received great attention, was opened by Eskişehir Governor Erol Ayyıldız and TİM Chairman İsmail Gülle. TİM Brand Council, Young TİM members, and students from İnovaTİM also attended the event. In the program, awards were presented to the 10 companies that exported the most from Eskişehir and the highest value-added exporting companies in 2020. TUSAŞ Motor Sanayii A.Ş. was at the top of the awarded companies.
"We will reach every company with export potential in Anatolia"
Speaking at the opening of the program, TİM Chairman İsmail Gülle pointed out the importance of the TİM SME Export Mobilization program. Stating that they aim to reach every company with export potential in all corners of Anatolia through training, Gülle said, "As the export family, we, with more than 100 thousand exporters, are running from target to target; and we are constantly moving towards new horizons in export. For our successes to be permanent, we must grow the export family even more. Because in our opinion, export should not be the work of only a certain group. All our companies should have a vision, not to mention small and large for total development. In line with this vision, we moved our TIM SME Export Campaign to Eskişehir this month."
"Over 37 thousand companies have joined our export family in two years"
Noting that all the curiosities about export have been answered in the training program, Gülle said, "It has been passed about two years since our first training program. In this process, more than 37 thousand new companies joined the export family. In the last two years, we have organized 17 TİM SME Export Mobilization Trainings, of which 16 in our country and one in the TRNC (Northern Cyprus). We designed our training programs for three target audiences. Our first target audience is company representatives who already have their businesses and want to carry out export activities; The second target audience is companies that want to increase their exports continuously and the third is young entrepreneurs. In the training we carried out, our experts, who are competent in their fields, convey their knowledge and experience to our companies and entrepreneurs.
"In some of our sectors, order density is 3 times higher than capacity"
Emphasizing that Türkiye is open for export and that the order density in some sectors has increased 2-3 times above the current capacity, TİM Chairman Gülle said, "Investments in our country are increasing day by day. We invite our Eskişehir companies to join our export family and add value to this national wealth. I sincerely believe that we will increase our existing export even more with today's training program."
$924 million worth of export from Eskişehir in the first 10 months
Underlining Eskişehir's success in export, İsmail Gülle continued: The figures show that Eskişehir shows significant successes with its solid infrastructure, innovative production approach, and ever-increasing export volume. With an average export distance of 4,351 kilometers, it is the 11th most exporting city. In 2020, when world trade experienced a serious contraction due to the pandemic, the export of our province exceeded 927 million dollars. With our performance this year, we are taking firm steps forward to break the historical record of the Republic in Eskişehir. In the first 10 months of 2021, Eskişehir's export amounted to $924 million, an increase of 25 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. We see that Eskişehir has performed very successfully, especially in the United States and Europe. Our Eskişehir exporters exported $259 million to the United States, $91 million to France, and $81 million to Germany. We increased our export by $35 million to the United States, $33 million to France, and $18 million to Germany this year. Eskişehir exported to 147 countries and regions. In addition, it is our 20th province with the most export. When we look at sectoral basis, Eskişehir's top three export sectors; Defense and Aviation ($246 million), Chemicals ($127 million), and Machine Parts ($105 million). The share of these three sectors in our province's export is 52%.
Marked the Defense and Aerospace sector
Stating that Eskişehir has the title of the brand city especially in the Defense and Aviation sector, Gülle continued: In this field, Eskişehir's export, which exports the most Defense Industry after İstanbul and Ankara, are increasing. This year, there is an increase of about 12 percent compared to last year. Eskişehir reached a very important figure by exporting products in a total of 1982 items in the first 10 months. The five most exported products of our province; turbo-jets, plastic products, magnesite, aircraft and helicopter parts, and iron and steel materials.
How do SMEs become brands?
After the opening speeches, a panel called "How SMEs Become Brands" was organized under the moderation of TİM Chairman İsmail Gülle. To the panel, which received great attention; Eskişehir Governor Erol Ayyıldız, Eskişehir Chamber of Industry President Celalettin Kesikbaş, Eskişehir Organized Industrial Zone President Nadir Küpeli, TAV Board Member Mehmet Erdoğan, TUSAŞ Motor Sanayii A.Ş. Chairman of the Executive Board Prof. Dr. Mahmut F. Akşit, ETİ Food Executive Board and Export Group President Erdinç Ayhan, İTHİB Board Member Sultan Tepe attended.

In the program, awards were presented to the top 10 companies that exported the most from Eskişehir last year and the highest value-added exporting company. TUSAŞ Motor Sanayii A.Ş. took the top spot as Eskişehir export champion. ANOT Endüstri ve Ticaret A.Ş was also awarded the highest value-added exporting company award.
