Successful Turkish Women Entrepreneurs Receive Their Awards
“Strong Women, Strong Export, Stronger Türkiye”
Aiming to grow globally, 38 Turkish women entrepreneurs completed the Academy for Women (AWE), which was organized for the first time in Türkiye in cooperation with TİM-TEB Enterprise House and the U.S. Embassy. Turkish women entrepreneurs who completed their training received their awards from U.S. Consul General in Istanbul Daria Darnell, TİM Chairman İsmail Gülle, and TEB General Manager Ümit Leblebici.
TİM Chairman İsmail Gülle said, “We have supported more than 1600 entrepreneurs, including 212 women entrepreneurs, within the TİM-TEB Entrepreneurship House so far. Our women entrepreneurs we support have employed more than 1,700 people. We are spreading these supports throughout the country and serving the total development of Türkiye.”
TEB General Manager Ümit Leblebici said, “Women entrepreneurs in Türkiye are much better, more progressive, and much more resilient than their competitors in the world, and at the same time have better analysis skills.”
The Academy for Women Entrepreneurship (AWE), which has been implemented by the U.S. Department of State's Department of Education and Cultural Affairs in 80 countries and has supported 16,000 women to grow their businesses and increase their economic impact since 2019, was implemented for the first time this year in Türkiye within the TİM-TEB Enterprise Houses.
38 women entrepreneurs of TİM-TEB Entrepreneurship House, which has the right to participate in the program in Türkiye and operates in 7 different cities of our country, received mentoring, training, consultancy, and promotional support for eight months. In the award ceremony held on May 10, 2022, at the US Consulate General in Istanbul, with the participation of Istanbul Consul General Daria Darnell, TİM Chairman İsmail Gülle, and TEB General Manager Ümit Leblebici; Successful women entrepreneurs who offer technological solutions in different fields such as software, artificial intelligence, health technologies, IoT, food, and logistics, who were entitled to participate free of charge at the Vivatech Paris event to be held in June 2022, were announced. 38 women entrepreneurs from TİM-TEB Venture House, who joined the AWE Women Entrepreneurs Academy, participated in Speed Mentoring activities and had the opportunity to gain experience from valuable business people at MentorTalks. In addition, 38 women entrepreneurs received special training on going-to-the US market and exporting, and benefited from privileges such as promotional support on both national and international scales.

In his speech at the AWE Women Techno Entrepreneurs award ceremony, TİM Chairman İsmail Gülle said, “TİM-TEB Entrepreneurship House has so far supported more than 1600 entrepreneurs, including 212 women entrepreneurs. The Techno Women Entrepreneurs Academy Program, which we initiated by signing a first in Türkiye with the U.S. Embassy within the TİM-TEB Enterprise House, added momentum to the efficiency of the startup ecosystem we established. We sincerely believe that the joint projects between the two countries will serve this acceleration and the goal of a trading volume of 100 billion dollars with the United States. By increasing the support, we have given to our entrepreneurs so far, we will continue to support more technology entrepreneurs.”

Speaking at the award ceremony, TEB General Manager Ümit Leblebici said, “Since 2013, we have been working with TEB Venture Banking to reach entrepreneurs all over Türkiye and develop the entrepreneurship ecosystem. As TEB, what we do with the most pride is to support our entrepreneurs. Today, we have more than 70 thousand female partner customers. We work very actively with 30 thousand women entrepreneurs. This is important to us because inclusiveness is very important for an economy to develop and compete in the world. We want to support women entrepreneurs more to spread inclusivity to society as a whole. Women entrepreneurs in Türkiye are much better, much more progressive, and much more resilient than their competitors in the world, in addition, they also have better analysis abilities. With the AWE Techno Women Entrepreneurs Academy Program, which we implemented at TİM-TEB Enterprise Houses, we aimed to support the growth of women-led startups in both the initial phase and the advanced levels of commercialization. With this program, 38 women entrepreneurs were provided with mentorship, consultancy, and networking support, and they were provided with meeting with corporate companies. We will continue our contributions to the further strengthening of the entrepreneurship ecosystem by increasing our support to our women entrepreneurs.”
TİM-TEB Enterprise House's Global Award-Winning Women Entrepreneurs
•İstanbul TİM-TEB Enterprise House initiative VAHAA, co-founded by Nehir Boyacıoğlu, one of the award-winning women entrepreneurs, designs smart gardens that can be tracked with an IoT-based mobile application that enables its users to grow their fruits and vegetables without soil wherever and in the season, they want.
•İzmir TİM-TEB Enterprise House initiative MYTH.AI, founded by Özgecan Üstgül, one of the award-winning women entrepreneurs, is a design technology that develops designs such in Fashion, Textile, Home Textile, Packaging, Metaverse, and Game by developing Pattern and Texture Design Technology.
•Founded by Banu Akgül, one of the award-winning women entrepreneurs, the İstanbul TİM-TEB Venture House initiative CONECTOHUB enables companies to efficiently manage strategy and implementation through a single application by integrating their strategic goals with their daily operations, thanks to the Artificial Intelligence-Based Business and Goal Management Platform and used by more than 1,000 companies in more than 14 countries.
•İstanbul TİM-TEB Venture House initiative, VIVOO, of which Gözde Büyükacaroğlu, one of the award-winning women entrepreneurs, is the COO, has developed the world's first home-type urine test that reads with an app. The apps, which allow users to track 11 health parameters from their urine, also give personalized recommendations based on results. The company, by exporting to 60,000 users and more than 60 countries, enables people to expand their access to health data and act to monitor and improve their health status from their homes.
•İzmir TIM-TEB Enterprise House initiative ADVOARD ROBOTİCS, founded by Pınar Oğuz Ekim, one of the award-winning women entrepreneurs, is a company that develops fully autonomous mobile robots and software for use in industrial and academic fields and also offers control solutions. Robots moving in fleets work with maximum efficiency in minimum route length thanks to algorithms based on artificial intelligence.
What Did the Women Entrepreneurs gain from AWE Techno Women Entrepreneurship Academy?
•Within the scope of the Academy, a Start-up program was implemented for 23 women entrepreneurs in the early stage and a Scale Up program was implemented for 15 advanced women entrepreneurs with global growth targets.
• The program started in October 2021 by giving Strategy Training to entrepreneurs in the AWE Start Up Program and Growth Training to entrepreneurs taking part in the Scale Up Program. Business model consultancy, presentation training, and effective presentation preparation consultancy meetings were held with entrepreneurs in the Start-Up program, and strategy and financial management consultancy meetings were held with entrepreneurs in Scale Up programs. Within the scope of the program, export training was organized open to the participation of two groups.
•In December, “U.S. Under Secretary of Commerce Entrepreneurship Supports and Incorporation in the U.S.” and “Things to Consider in International Contracts and Legal Perspective on the Investment Process” Webinars were held.
•In December and January, AWE Program entrepreneurs had the opportunity to introduce their companies and receive mentoring services at the Speed Mentoring event, where corporate company managers, investment network representatives, and entrepreneurs came together.
•Our women entrepreneurs were introduced on TİM social media accounts and in TİM Report magazine. In the 'Techno Life' program, interviews were published in which 5 women entrepreneurs introduced their products. At the Design Week event, entrepreneurs participating in the AWE program were given the opportunity to have a stand.
•A webinar themed “The potential and future of the entrepreneurship ecosystem in Türkiye” was held in February.
•In April, a webinar was held with Aishe Bowe, a former NASA rocket expert, serial entrepreneur, and founder of Lingo.
•To determine the five entrepreneurs who will be eligible to attend the Vivatech event to be held in Paris in June 2022, Pitching Day was held where the presentations of women entrepreneurs were heard.
