Hopefully, we will reach our end-of-year target of 250 billion dollars before the end of the year. We express our gratitude as an export family to our entire government, especially our Esteemed President, who paved the way for our exporters.”
The Turkish exporter, the field workers of Türkiye's economy and trade diplomacy, which achieved the highest first-quarter performance in the history of the republic in the first quarter of the year, set another historical record. Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM), the only umbrella organization of more than 100,000 exporters with 61 Exporters' Associations and 27 sectors, working to grow the economy and become one of the world's giants, announced the foreign trade data for April with the participation of Trade Minister Mehmet Muş at a meeting in Ankara. The export family, showing a historical performance, realized an export of 23.4 billion dollars with an increase of 25 percent compared to the same month of the previous year. With these figures, the highest monthly export figure was reached in export. In addition, more than $2 billion was also exported to a country for the first time this month. With $23.4 billion in exports reached in April, a very important threshold was crossed on the way to the year-end export target of $250 billion.
In April, export increased by 25 percent to $23.4 billio
TİM Chairman İsmail Gülle, who shared with the public the historical records broken in export with details at the “April 2022 Foreign Trade Figures Press Release” meeting, said, “Our export family performed historically, exporting $23.4 billion, with increase of 25 percent compared to the same month last year. With this figure, we managed to reach our highest monthly export figure. Thus, a monthly record was recorded in 18 of the last 20 months. Our 12-month exports exceeded 240 billion dollars. Hopefully, we will reach our end-of-year target of 250 billion dollars before the end of the year.”

In addition to these sectors, the most notable increases in sectoral terms were in our iron and non-ferrous metals and steel sectors. 8 of our sectors set an export record in April. These achievements recorded in different sectors at the same time are proof that Türkiye is in an all-out production and export movement.”
In April, while 61 cities increased their exports, 16 cities exported the highest in their history
Stating that 61 cities had succeeded in increasing their exports in April, TİM Chairman İsmail Gülle listed the top 3 most exporting cities: İstanbul with an increase of 30 percent and with $9.4 billion; Kocaeli with an increase of 48 percent, and with $1.9 billion; and İzmir with an increase of 41 percent and with $1.4 billion. I would like to emphasize that Yozgat has increased 4 times its exports and Nevşehir increased by 2.5 times, in April. I congratulate all our cities for this successful performance.”
“This month, for the first time, we exported over $2 billion to only one country”

We have set a record for exports to 27 countries, including Germany, the United States, Israel, and Spain. We held trade delegations in Israel and Spain last month with a strong turnout. This success that followed was a source of joy for us. Our exports to Spain increased by 270 million dollars and our exports to Israel increased by 190 million dollars. This month, for the first time, we exported over $2 billion to a country.”
Export to the European Union increased by 29 percent to $10 billion

In other country groups, we exported $3.9 billion to Near and Middle Eastern countries, $2.9 billion to The African continent, $2 billion to North America, and $1.6 billion to Far East countries. Our new companies exported $123.4 million in April. This month, the number of exporting companies was 48,938.
“Excluding energy, when we look at the figures, we managed to have a foreign trade surplus this month”
Emphasizing that the increase in exports with Turkish Lira continues, TİM Chairman İsmail Gülle said, “According to the declarations opened with Turkish Lira, exports were made a total amount of TL 8.7 billion to 162 countries. In April, exports in the Turkish Lira increased by 55 percent. Another good news came from “Foreign Trade Balance”, which is one of the most important topics of our export family. Excluding energy, we managed to give a foreign trade surplus this month. The import coverage ratio of our exports, excluding energy, rose to 101 percent. Now we see clearly that Türkiye has started to reap the fruits of this breakthrough in export. If God allows, the days, when we will give a direct “Foreign Trade Surplus”, including energy, are near. There is a huge export family of 100,000 people who are united to achieve this.”
A Thank you from TİM Chairman İsmail Gülle to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Trade Minister Mehmet Muş
Stating that before the feast, the government gave the very important good news to the exporters, who are the field workers of trade diplomacy, TİM Chairman İsmail Gülle continued his speech as follows: “As a result of the latest good news, with the proposed law submitted to the Parliament before the holiday, advertising and editorial in the fairgrounds will be tax-free, and the sections used by exporters in the Foreign Trade Complex, the epicenter of our export, will be transferred to TİM. In addition, the debts of the members who are bankrupt, leave the trade, and do not export in the last 5 years can be canceled by the decision to be taken in the general assembly. On the other hand, a new support package, that will add momentum to the upward momentum of our exports and lead to higher export figures with new investments, was announced. Our President gave the good news of 150 billion TL of credit support to exporters. It is also extremely important to foresee a limit of 250 million Turkish Lira for SMEs and 1.5 billion Turkish Lira for non-SME companies. With this support, our export family will achieve much bigger goals. In the presence of you, we would like to express our gratitude to our minister for the great support they have given to our export family. Fortunately, we have a government that is concerned with the problems of our exporters, a president who considers exporters as companions.”
“The $23.4 billion in exports we reached in April was a very important step towards our year-end export target of $250 billion”
Noting that in the general export figures, they closed the first quarter of the year with very successful performance and managed to carry quarterly exports to over 60 billion dollars, TİM Chairman İsmail Gülle said that they had stated in previous months that this success would continue to accelerate. Gülle said, “The $23.4 billion worth of exports we reached in April was a very important step towards our export target of $250 billion at the end of the year. I would like to emphasize that these achievements were recorded at a time of serious uncertainty on a global scale. In this process, our exporters can work in coordination with all levels of our state.”
With TİM Export Talks, exporters are informed by T.C. Ambassadors
Stating that they brought the exporters together with Moscow Ambassador Mehmet Samsar in a virtual meeting with the TİM export talks program they held last week, TİM Chairman İsmail Gülle said, “Our exporters had the opportunity to get information directly from our Ambassador. Working together with our government and state in times of crisis conduce to a more effective solution to problems. Uncertainty is the biggest obstacle to trade. However, even in this uncertain environment, our exporters manage to reach new records and never allow interruptions in production and exports. This situation is manifested in the statistics. The Real Sector Confidence Index, which shows the expectations of the manufacturing industry for the economy, increased by 1.2 points compared to the previous month to 109.7. The capacity utilization rate in the manufacturing industry increased by 0.5 points compared to the previous month and reached 77.8. The industrial production index increased by 13.3 percent year on year with the latest developments. Türkiye is showing extremely strong production performance. We know that it is necessary to take both the production and export sides much further to be very satisfied with this table and we prepare our plans accordingly.
Because we know that it is production, goods, and services exports that will carry our country to more prosperous tomorrow and will make Türkiye one of the 10 largest economies in the world.”
“We consider regional convergences that remove barriers to trade extremely important”
Stating that the continuous crises on a global scale and Türkiye's uninterrupted and dynamic production structure reinforce its characteristics of being a 'Reliable Supplier Port', TİM Chairman İsmail Gülle said, “The transformation in the global supply chain, which started with the pandemic phase and continued due to the war, and the rising trend of close supply, heralds a period in which we will use Türkiye's geopolitical advantage more effectively. Following the recent rapprochement in bilateral relations, we, as an export family, had very important contacts with the United Arab Emirates and Israel. The attention is shown to us in these countries and the interest in Turkish goods is extremely high. It is the job of our exporters to enter through the doors opened by our President. Hopefully, in the near term, we will start a serious export breakthrough in other countries where we have similar problems. We consider regional convergences that remove barriers to trade extremely important. We express our gratitude as an export family to all our governments, especially our esteemed president, who established these convergences and paved the way for our exporters.”
“We are $15 billion plus on the way to $250 billion”
Underlining that they need to increase exports by $2.1 billion every month compared to last year to reach the target they set in 2022, TİM Chairman İsmail Gülle said, “This month, we increased our export almost twice that figure. As a result of the latest figures, we are $15 billion-plus on the way to $250 billion. It is extremely important that the current momentum continues to rise. We walk with great determination and faith toward all our goals. We aim for a high level of prosperity resulting from the increase in exports. Because Türkiye, which rises with export, means 84 million rising with export.”
