Youth Power From TIM To Export

TİM CHAIRMAN GÜLLE: WE WILL CREATE TÜRKİYE RISING WITH EXPORTS WITH OUR YOUNG PEOPLE

Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM) has implemented the Young TİM project to increase the number of young exporters and to raise the young generation of the export people of the future. TİM aims to create Türkiye, which is rising with exports in the hands of young people with its new project. Young exporters from all sectors working in Türkiye's leading companies took part in Genç TİM. In the Young TİM Board of Directors, it was obligatory to have female board members at least as much as the ratio of the total female members.

Sharing the goals and roadmap of Young TİM, TİM Chairman İsmail Gülle said, "Export is a social heritage that should be passed on to the younger generations. For us, the main thing is to carry this national presence, this feeling, excitement into the future and to bring it together with our youth. Our goal is to create a rising Türkiye with exports in the hands of our young people. We will encourage our young people to export, increase their access to foreign markets, and make them export ambassadors in trade diplomacy. We have started with 131 members during the establishment phase. Hopefully, in 5 years, we will increase our number of Young TİM members to 500 with our exports that will increase to 300 billion dollars."

The Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM), the only umbrella organization of 100 thousand exporters with 61 exporters' associations and 27 sectors, continues its efforts at full speed to achieve the goal of "Türkiye Giving a Foreign Trade Surplus" and to encourage exports of all segments of society. In this context, Young TİM was founded by TİM to ensure the sustainability of exports, to raise the young generation of the export people of the future, to increase the number of young exporters, and to develop young entrepreneurship in the business world. During the establishment phase, 131 young exporters from all sectors took part. TİM Chairman İsmail Gülle shared the roadmap and goals of the new formation at the press conference held with the participation of young TİM exporters working in Türkiye's leading companies.

Why Young TİM?

Emphasizing that Young TİM will work and produce for youth with its committees to be formed in many topics from commercial diplomacy to international cooperation, e-exports to the export embassy, TİM Chairman İsmail Gülle said, "Youth has always been our energy throughout history; It's the most precious ore that ever came out when we said it was all over. Youth does not just age. Youth means enthusiasm for us, the energy to say 'I will do better', courage, intelligence, and most importantly, morality. As TİM, we are aware of the gem of our young people. For this reason, we have implemented Young TİM, where not only experienced exporters are examples to young people, but also young exporters will set an example for each other, encourage each other and share their experiences. Together with Young TİM, we aim to ensure sustainability in our exports, to raise the export-capable young generation of the future, to increase the number of young exporters, develop young entrepreneurship in the business world, and establish cooperation with national and international equivalent organizations for our youth.”

"TİM is always with the young people"

Pointing out that they work with and support young people in many projects they realize, Gülle said, “We supported more than a thousand young techno-entrepreneurs in our startups. Türkiye's youngest and most innovative family, InovaTİM, has more than 3,000 university students. We provide training to 15,000 high school students on important topics such as artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things. Our InovaTİM project teams successfully represent our country in international competitions with projects that develop model satellites, unmanned underwater robots, and many innovative designs. With İnovaTİM's first R&D project, we contribute to the National Space Program by working on Multifunctional Solar Panels in Nano-Micro Cube Satellites. While our assembly works so closely and with one heart with the youth, we have taken the responsibility for more today. We have created the road map of Young TİM with the experience we have gained from all these works we have carried out from the past to the present.”

"We are researching generation Z"

Gülle also gave information about the InovaTİM Generation Z Research Series, which they have been working on for more than 2 years. Underlining that the research was carried out with 2,510 young people from 7 different regions of Türkiye, Gülle continued: According to our findings, we found that young people, especially in the Marmara, Aegean, and Black Sea regions, scored higher than other regions. These results show us that as Young TİM, we need to work to support the motivation and competence of generation Z in all regions. We will continue to shape the continuation of this research series according to the needs of our Young Tim Council members.”

"Every year we will hold a 'Young TİM Export Summit'"

Stating that they will provide training to young people for sustainable tomorrow, İsmail Gülle said, "We will encourage our young people to export, we will increase their access to foreign markets, we will make them export ambassadors in trade diplomacy. Our Young TİM agenda includes a wide range of activities such as organizing the Young TİM Export Summit every year under the auspices of our President, sustainable activities focused on young exporters, training programs, collaborations with national and international institutions and organizations, virtual and physical trade delegations, and business forums.

Who can be from Young TİM?

Emphasizing that they have designed young TİM for members up to the age of 40 who have the right to vote in exporters' unions, TİM Chairman Gülle stated: We have started with 131 members during the establishment phase. Hopefully, in 5 years, we will increase our number of Young TİM members to 500 with our exports that will increase to 300 billion dollars. We evaluated and decided on our constitution, which includes details about the structure and functioning of Young TİM, in our consultation meeting. We have elected 18 vice presidents who will be responsible for the committees within the Young TİM as a result of our consultations with our unions. We have added all the necessary articles to our constitution for Young TİM to be efficient, transparent, egalitarian, and sustainable.

"Young TİM will be the experience transfer center"

TİM Chairman İsmail Gülle explained another important function of Young TİM as follows:

“Export is a social legacy that must be passed on to younger generations. For us, the main thing is to carry this national presence, this feeling, excitement into the future, to bring it together with our youth. Just as the future of our country is entrusted to our young people, the future of our exports is in the hands of our youth.

Recently, we have set historical records in our exports. In the last 12 months, we have managed to exceed the $200 billion limit. In five years, hopefully, we will reach $300 billion. The figures we will reach 10 years and 20 years from now will emerge entirely with the vision of our young exporters. Therefore, our young people must be much more active and entrepreneurial in the new world order that has changed with the pandemic. The young and dynamic population of our country constitutes a very serious opportunity. Thanks to the increasing skills and competencies of our young people, we will further strengthen Türkiye's position in global competition. We will combine our exports with the dynamism and excitement of youth. Of course, a company does not have the age of an exporter, but only has experience. Young TİM is also important because it is an experience transfer center. It has been operating among us for many years or even generations

We have very valuable exporters. Their experiences, the challenges they face, it will inspire our young exporters who are still at the beginning of the road and shed light on their paths.”

"Always forward, higher..."

We have close to 30 million young people between the ages of 18 and 40 in our country. We have the highest proportion of young people in Europe. We need to assess this great potential. We know that if you are an investment in youth is the investment that creates the most value in the medium and long term. The best examples of this situation are the unicorns implemented by our young entrepreneurs in recent years. Hopefully, soon our number of unicorns will increase even more to double digits. Our goal is to create a rising Türkiye with exports in the hands of our young people. As Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk said; "All the hope and future of the homeland is attached to you, to the understanding and energy of the younger generations." We believe in the power and energy of our young people to understand. We always walk forward, higher, with our young people.

'Young TİM Constitution'

1. It covers members up to the age of 40 (including 40 years of age) who are entitled to vote in the Exporters' Associations.

2. There are 12 Vice Presidents, including TİM President Honorary President. The number of Vice Presidents can be increased with the approval of the TİM president. Vice Presidents will be elected from regional representatives and independent members to be elected from the General Secretariat.

3. The exporters' associations described in the first article are eligible to vote and the people in that age bracket are automatically members of The Young TİM.

4. The Board of Directors appointed by the TİM Chairman presents the 12-month business plan to the TİM Chairman within 30 days and presents the realizations with a report at the end of each semester with the new 12-month report.

5. There must be at least as many female board members on the Young TİM Board of Directors as the total proportion of female members.
