EXPORTS CONTINUED TO RISE IN ITS 20th CONSECUTIVE MONTH
Exports Increased by 5% in June
Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM) announced export figures with a press release.
Exports in June reached $12.6 billion with an increase of 5% compared to the same month last year. Mehmet Büyükekşi, announced the export figures for the last time before handing over his duty as the TİM Chairman. Büyükekşi told that; “It is a very special source of joy to witness an increase in our final announcement. Under the leadership of our new Chairman, we will see new records all together.”
Automotive sector maintained its leadership
In June, automotive was the leading sector with $2.5 billion dollars. The sector's exports increased by 1.9% compared to the same month of the previous year. Automotive was followed by chemicals with $1.42 billion, apparel with $1.36 billion.
Exports to EU up 8 percent
Exports to EU increased by 8%, while the share of EU in Turkey's exports was 52.1% in June. Exports to Africa increased by 23.8%, and exports to other Asian countries increased by 33.2%.
Istanbul is the leader, Denizli's exports increased by 19.7 percent
In June, exports increased in 37 provinces. Top five provinces in exports were; Istanbul with $5.5 billion, Kocaeli with $1.2 billion, Bursa with $ 1.1 billion İzmir with $791 million and Ankara with $602 million. The highest increase in exports among the top 10 was achieved by Hatay with 29.9 percent.
1081 firms started exporting in June
33,563 firms exported in June. 2,771 of these companies, have exported for the first time this year. 1,081 companies, which had never exported before, joined the export family this month.
