Chairman of TİM Gültepe: Medium-Term Program (MTP) A Product of Collective Wisdom and Consultation
Chairman of Türkiye Exporters Assembly (TİM), Mustafa Gültepe, provided his assessments regarding the Medium-Term Program (MTP) announced by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, covering the period of 2024-2026.
The Medium-Term Program (MTP) covering the period of 2024-2026, which was prepared by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance and the Presidency Strategy and Budget Directorate, with Türkiye Exporters Assembly (TİM) as one of the stakeholder institutions in the preparation process, has been unveiled. Chairman of TİM, Mustafa Gültepe, provided his assessments on the MTP announced by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan during the presentation meeting held at the Presidential Complex.
“The Program is a product of collective wisdom and consultation”
remarked Chairman Mustafa Gültepe, emphasizing the significance of the MTP for its three-year macro objectives in terms of predictability. He continued his remarks as follows:
"We, at TİM, participated as stakeholder institutions in the preparation process of the MTP. We view the MTP as a three-year roadmap. We regularly conduct projection studies regarding the future of our exports within our own organization. The establishment of an export-focused sustainable growth climate is among the main topics of the Program. The announced macro targets, particularly those related to exports and employment, are realistic and appropriate. We have set export targets of $255 billion in 2023, $267 billion in 2024, $283 billion in 2025, and $302 billion in 2026. With our 115,000 exporters, we will work with all our might to achieve these goals."
"The emphasis on price stability is especially important for our producer exporters"
Noting that they will need to make a little more effort within the scope of the announced targets, Gültepe expressed his belief that they will reach all of their export targets with the number of exporters increasing day by day. Gültepe underlined that the emphasis on price stability in the program is also extremely important, especially for producer exporters.
Gültepe continued his evaluations as follows:
"In the previous period, due to high inflation, we faced difficulties in maintaining prices in the production and sales stages. Hopefully, in the coming period, we will proceed in a more stable trajectory and overcome these issues. Under the headings of Growth and Trade, areas such as domestic production in industry and product-based technological transformation, strengthening of logistics infrastructure, expansion of industrial areas, planned agricultural production, deepening in commercial agreements, and support for service exports are highly crucial. I believe that precise moves made in these areas will facilitate our export processes. On the other hand, the emphasis on the twin transformation encompassing green and digital transformation in the program is highly significant. The timetable is moving very swiftly in terms of the Green Deal. The Medium-Term Program is a comprehensive, extensive, and well-planned program in all these areas. I congratulate everyone who contributed to this roadmap. I wish the MTP to bring prosperity and success to our country."
