Türkiye's June exports totalled $20.9 billion

Automotive sector ranked first among the sectors with the highest exports in June with 3 billion dollars. Chemicals and chemical products ranked second with 2.4 billion dollars and apparel ranked third with 1.7 billion dollars. The unit export value per kilogram increased by 4 percent compared to the same month of last year and rose to 1.46 dollars.

The countries that received the most exports from Turkey in June were Germany with 1.8 billion dollars, USA with 1.3 billion dollars, UK and Italy with 1 billion dollars each and Iraq with 987 million dollars.

Mustafa Gültepe, President of TİM: We are working with all our strength to reach the target of 265 billion dollars. Although we may experience calendar effects in certain periods, when we consider the overall picture, we are approaching our target step by step.

Türkiye exported 20.9 billion dollars in June. Exports in the first half of the year were 123.4 billion dollars.

Mustafa Gültepe highlighted that they set a new daily export record with 2 billion 121 million dollars on 23 June. Despite the daily export record, Gültepe emphasised that the loss of working days due to the Feast had a negative impact on June exports and stated the following:

“According to the General Trade System (GTS) records, we completed June with exports of 20.9 billion dollars showing a negative growth of 10.5 percent compared to the same month last year. We closed the first half of 2023 with a 1.8% decrease compared to the same period last year. Our exports for the last 12 months reached 251.9 billion dollars. Last month, the automotive sector made the highest contribution to our exports with 3 billion dollars. Our other sectors in the top five were listed as chemicals and chemical products with $2.4 billion, apparel with $1.7 billion, electrical electronics and steel with $1.3 billion each. Last month, we recorded remarkable increases in the exports of our olive and olive oil products, ship and yacht sectors. 17 provinces increased their exports, while our top five exporting provinces were Istanbul, Kocaeli, Bursa, Izmir and Ankara. One thousand 418 companies exported for the first time in June. Our unit export value increased by 4 per cent compared to the same month of the previous year and rose to 1.46 dollars. Parity had a positive impact on our exports in June as in the previous two months. In June, the parity effect provided a positive value of 279 million dollars. However, when we evaluate the first 6 months, we still have a loss of 367 million dollars due to parity.

The top countries that Turkey exported to in June were Germany with 1.8 billion dollars, the USA with 1.3 billion dollars, the UK and Italy with 1 billion dollars each, and Iraq with 987 million dollars.”

WE ARE WORKING WITH ALL OUR STRENGTH TO REACH OUR TARGET OF 265 BILLION DOLLARS

Mustafa Gültepe reminded that TİM General Assembly and 'Top 1000 Exporters' award ceremony were held on 17 June with the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Gültepe stated that they had the opportunity to convey the demands of exporters to President Erdoğan at the ceremony and concluded his words as follows:

“Our request for the increase and continuation of the minimum wage support has received a positive response. Minimum wage support will continue until the end of the year. On the other hand, we consider the level of exchange rate as a positive development in terms of our competitiveness. We have a much stronger hand in pricing compared to a month ago. The Central Bank raised interest rates for the first time in 27 months, raising the policy rate by 6.5 points to 15 percent. As the export family, we welcome the gradual monetary tightening positively. We continue on our way with firm steps. We are working with all our strength to achieve our target of 265 billion dollars. Although we occasionally feel the impact of calendar effects, when we look at the bigger picture, we are gradually approaching our target.”
