Champions of Türkiye's USD 396 Billion Export Performance Receive Their Awards from President Erdoğan
Mustafa Gültepe, President of the Türkiye Exporters Assembly: This year, we are targeting USD 282 billion in goods exports and USD 128 billion in services exports. Hopefully, we will surpass the USD 400 billion threshold in exports for the first time this year. However, we do not consider these modest increases sufficient, because our ambition is to position Türkiye among the world's top 10 exporting countries.
The 33rd General Assembly of the Türkiye Exporters Assembly (TİM), together with the 'Champions of Exports' Awards Ceremony, was held in Istanbul with the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and cabinet ministers. Awards were presented by President Erdoğan to the top 10 companies that made the greatest contribution to Türkiye's total goods and services exports of USD 396 billion in 2025.
In his address at the ceremony, Mustafa Gültepe, President of the Türkiye Exporters Assembly, recalled that Türkiye achieved total exports of USD 396 billion in goods and services in 2025. Emphasizing that the country had reached its highest-ever annual figures in both goods and services exports, Gültepe continued:
“We closed 2025 above the USD 390 billion target set for us by our President. We took great pride in concluding the year with total goods and services exports amounting to USD 396 billion. This year, we are targeting USD 282 billion in goods exports and USD 128 billion in services exports. Hopefully, we will surpass the USD 400 billion threshold in exports for the first time this year. Despite the wars in our region, mounting geopolitical risks, and the rise of protectionist barriers, we by no means regard the modest increases we have achieved in exports as sufficient, because our ambition is to position Türkiye among the world's top 10 exporting countries. To achieve this goal, we must secure contributions from all 27 sectors and sustain double-digit export growth every year. We firmly believe that our country possesses more than enough potential to accomplish this.”
“Production and Exports Must Be the Driving Force of the Economy”
Mustafa Gültepe underscored that production lies at the heart of sustainable development and that lasting economic growth can only be achieved through production and exports. Stressing that, for sustainable development, at least half of economic growth should be generated by production and exports, Gültepe continued:
“Production and exports must always serve as the driving force of the economy. Today, the economic strength of nations is measured not only by the resources they possess but also by their capacity to sell what they produce to the world. From this perspective, exports represent investment, production, employment, and, naturally, foreign exchange earnings. Exports constitute the strongest guarantee of economic independence. In short, factories are the frontline of economic defense. Those factories are the strongest bastions of geopolitical strength, stability, and confidence in the future. Accordingly, we view exporters not merely as producers and sellers, but as a strategic force that invests in Türkiye's future and extends its reach beyond borders.”
“We need measures that will restore our competitiveness”
Mustafa Gültepe pointed out that the rules of global trade are being fundamentally rewritten. Emphasizing that competition is becoming increasingly intense, protectionist tendencies are on the rise, and geopolitical risks continue to grow, Gültepe concluded:
“In such an environment, maintaining competitiveness has become more critical than ever. For us, the key word is competitiveness. Therefore, we need measures and economic policies that will restore our competitive strength. When price competitiveness is lost, market share begins to erode. Where market share is lost, production and employment inevitably come under pressure. Likewise, in times such as these, exporters' access to affordable, long-term financing becomes critically important. No matter how challenging the conditions may be, we have never succumbed to pessimism, and we never will.”
